Getting Queenie Read's story down on the page was a long-held dream of mine. You could say it took over 30 years, as that's when Queenie first told me about being sold to the fair when she was only six years old.
Ever since then, I'd been wanting to write this book. In the spring of 2021 I finally put pen to paper, with Queenie of Norwich released in February 2022.

The House of Many Lives took me by surprise. I was in a period of 'writer's block' struggling with my next historical novel when this story came to me.
Inspired by a new appreciation for my home town of Bodmin (thanks to the lock-downs), I decided to set this book in the town.
The book follows protagonist Kate as she inherits a house in Bodmin, and opens it up to BnB guests. With guest's stories dotted throughout the book, The House of Many Lives will soon become a series, with a book for each guest who stays with Kate.
It's designed to be an uplifting, easy read that hopefully provides some escapism from the challenges of every day life.
The House of Many Lives is now a three book series, with Is It Me? and The Wrong Holiday each picking up on a story of one of Kate's house guests.
If you'd like to delve into this feel-good series, a link can be found here.

At a time when our fishing industry is under threat, Silver Darlings looks back to its glory days, when fishing was the main industry in coastal towns and provided not just a living, but a community.
Silver Darlings is a work of fiction, but draws on my experience of island life and time spent in Lowestoft, where most of my family now live. It's been several years since I had the chance to return to Northumberland, but walking the streets of Lowestoft last summer, I could almost see the boats lining the harbour, and see Jimmy and Clara walking the bustling streets of its heyday.
If you enjoy following Jimmy and Clara's journey from islanders to the herring season and on to Lowestoft, please get in touch on the 'Contact page'. It's always a pleasure hearing from readers!

Based on a true story, The Wives Left Behind is set in Cornwall in 1840, when a prominent local businessman was murdered on his way home from market. The case caught the imagination of the whole of Cornwall and after two brothers were arrested for the crime, tens of thousands of onlookers flooded into Bodmin to see them meet their fate at Bodmin Jail. The book follows the events from the perspective of two women, Sarah, the victim's wife, and Maria, wife of the accused.
